Context

1. Cities are experiencing more intense disruptions such as pandemics, artificial intelligence, extreme weather events, and migration and there is a need to develop human capital and structures equipped to cope with these challenges

2. Managers of cities in the year 2050 are currently in high school and university today, learning many tools designed for the 1990's and early 2000s

3. Political and cultural shifts could put more power in the hands of citizens as co-creators of public value


Objectives

1. update the teaching of public administration, citizenship, and leadership to make graduates more future-ready

2. equip current public leaders in leaders with futures thinking skills so that they can handle tensions between legacy systems and emerging trends

3. advance the theory, discourse, and policies on local governance to cultivate the mindsets of future-readiness and strategic foresight
